Our recommendation

Try an e-bike along the Diemtigtal House Trails. This particular itinerary is ideal to get familiar with the e-bike because it leads along undulating secondary roads with low traffic. And, what’s more, you’ll get to see the most beautiful Simmentaler houses.

On a discovery tour in the Diemtigtal

Leisurely e-bike rides

Explore the nature park comfortably and with minimal effort. The motor will help you when needed – you decide how strong the support should be. You will effortlessly tackle even the steepest ascents, while whistling a song. But first and foremost: you are able to do much longer tours on your bike and rides are fun, even for people who love a leisurely experience. You’ve never been on an e-bike? Rent one of the two basic e-bikes at the Diemtigtal Nature Park to try this fun way of biking.

Thrill at Wiriehorn bike park

The Wiriehorn Hot-Trail bike park offers you two downhill trails, the Alptrail, three easy trails for children and beginners and two pump tracks. Whether you are an experienced or a novice mountain biker, there are trails for different levels.

The chairlift at Wiriehorn brings you and your bike comfortably up to Nüegg mountain station from where the three mountain bike trails start (please note the opening hours of the chairlift). Thanks to natural and wooden banked turns, berms, drops and dusts they are the ideal place for downhill fun. By the way: The Weryhorny trail has hosted many iXS downhill cups. Do you accept the challenge?

Would you like to improve your skills? Then you need to try the two pump tracks. One of which was even the first of its kind in the Bernese Oberland. They are accessible to all visitors since they are located directly at the end of the trails. A great conveyor belt brings little ones to the start of the three beginner trails. All trails end here, directly next to the valley station. To conclude your bike experience there are showers, a place to clean your mountain bike, and barbecue sites.

Learn mountain biking from scratch
The Hot-Trail Bike School can help you finetune your mountain bike technique with specialist lessons. Experts will teach you fancy tricks to render biking on different terrains even more enjoyable. There are lessons for children and adults. All training courses take place in groups.

Fun descents by push scooter
«Trottinettlä am Wiriehorn fägt u macht dr ganzä Familie Früüd!» (the whole family enjoys riding push scooters at Wiriehorn). What could be more wonderful than ending a hike by conquering the last few meters of descent with ease on > push scooter? Or are you planning an excursion for your family or corporate group and are looking for the ultimate fun element? Then this is the right place for you: rushing downhill on this two-wheeled vehicle is exciting. From Nüegg mountain station you follow a 6 km trail to the valley station. Push scooters and helmets can be rented directly at Wiriehornbahnen.

Enjoying GrimmialpBike Trail on fat wheels

Exploring the Diemtigtal (Diemtig valley) by mountain bike enables you to discover the less accessible areas of the valley. From Tiermatti in Schwenden you follow the marked route named GrimmialpBike for 18 km through the Grimmialp area. On this route you’ll cross steep rocks, mountain forests and mountain pastures. The tour is easy, except for the steep descend from Gurbs to Schlatti. The difference in altitude for the whole trail is 670 metres.

Agility riding on motorcycles: trials

Motorcycle trials enjoys a long tradition at Grimmialp. Speed is not the distinguishing element of this sport. It’s all about agility, balance and a little bit of courage.

Every year, at the beginning of September, the Alpentrial takes place at Grimmialp. Since 2016 it has been included on the Canton of Berne’s list of living traditions, which is very rewarding for all those who work hard each year to realise the Alpentrial.
