For families
The most child-friendly skiing area within the Bernese Oberland
On the sunny terrace of the Nature Park lies the smallest of the three skiing areas of the Diemtigtal (Diemtig valley): Springenboden. It is perfectly laid out for children and offers everything a family could wish for from a day in the snow: a rope tow, two children’s ski lifts, a ski school and the popular Schneeparadies (snow paradise), the snow playground.
The natural and, during winter, almost untouched landscape surrounding Springenboden offers you an attractive alternative to virtual reality so prevalent in modern life. Thanks to its peaceful atmosphere and its location away from the big winter sports areas, Springenboden is a unique place to recharge your batteries. A snowshoe hike or a winter walk let you forget busy daily life.

Discover Springenboden on foot or with snowshoes
The three winter hiking trails and the snowshoe trail are for sure highlights of your stay at Springenboden. They offer you the perfect surroundings to slow down in nature, enjoying a stunning view over the Diemtigtal (Diemtig valley). From this altitude you can clearly see the distinctive Schwarzenberg and Wiriehorn peaks. The trails lead you over peaceful meadows, which just seem to be waiting patiently for the next summer season. After a fresh snowfall, with a little bit of imagination, the snow-covered trees look like huge snow sculptures.

Unique winter event
What works in summer, works even better in winter. Instead of playing football on natural or artificial grass or sand, at Springenboden it’s played on snow. Every year during the last week of the year a football tournament takes place: > the Springenbodencup (description in German). During this unique winter event, teams compete against each other, and having fun is just as important as the competition.
Stay overnight in the middle of the skiing area
There are just a few options to stay overnight at Springenboden, but they’re perfect for skiers. A day in the snow starts right on your doorstep: put on your skis and off you go. Enjoy a local meal at one of the two restaurants Springenboden or Gsässweid.
Springenboden is where the youngest learn how to ski
The various children’s lessons offered by the ski school at Springenboden are very popular. Many children have learned to ski right here. Thanks to the team of the Swiss Ski School Diemtigtal a new generation of skiers is guaranteed. The beginners’ area at Springenboden is centrally located directly at the children’s lifts and the Spielparadies (snow playground). Find full information about group or private skiing and snowboarding lessons > here
Rental equipment is available at Gasthaus Gsässweid
For sure you’ll have your own winter outfit with you. However, snowshoes and sledges can be rented at > Gasthaus Gsässweid (Gsässweid inn, description in German) at Springenboden.
The adventure starts with the journey
Around many bends the road winds its way up to Springenboden. A well-equipped car (with winter tyres and, if conditions demand it, also snow chains or 4x4) is required. Unfortunately, there’s no public transport to Springenboden.
Our recommendation: visit the Schwingerpavillon (Swiss Wrestling pavilion)
Schwingenboden is the home turf of our Schwingerkönig Kilian Wenger (Swiss wrestling champion). In his honour there’s a theme trail which leads through the beautiful mountains during summer. It ends at Springenboden, where the Schwingerpavillon is located. The pavilion is open year-round. It is worth visiting it to see the true to original wooden sculptures of Kilian Wenger and the Siegermuni Arnold (a special bull that is won by Swiss wrestling champions). Moreover, you’ll find more information about Swiss wrestlers and also a fridge with local products, such as cheese and sausages from the alps of the Diemtigtal (Diemtig valley).
