The forest pavilion is located in the area of a storm wooded area created by hurricane Lothar in 1999. The Meniggrund-Flühschwand forest area was designated as a forest reserve after the storm. In order to observe the natural reforestation, the windfall timber was deliberately left lying around. This created diverse habitats that need to be preserved and protected.
The Flühschwand barbecue site is accessible on foot from June to October.

Car:
Motorway A6 Bern direction Zweisimmen, 1 km after the Simmenfluh tunnel turn left direction Diemtigtal. Follow the Diemtigtal road into the valley for 13 km until you reach the Seebergsee branch in Zwischenflüh. Here you will find the ticket machine for road use and the car park.
Turn right towards Seebergsee and follow the road for 5 km until you reach the «Gasebode» car park. From here you can reach the barbecue site along the hiking trail in 15 minutes on foot.
Train, bus & co:
By train to Oey-Diemtigen station (Spiez–Zweisimmen line). Continue by PostBus to the stop «Zwischenflüh, Anger». From here you can reach the Menigboden barbecue site in 1.5 hours on foot. The trail leads partly on asphalt.
